CONCEPTUAL METAPHORS IN FRENCH LITERARY DISCOURSE

Abstract

The article deals with issues of the conceptual metaphor: the definition, structural and semantic analysis of metaphorical constructions, and systematization of the types of the conceptual metaphor in French literary discourse. It is taken into account that the conceptual metaphor includes the connotation which is identified by the metaphor, and the concept that is involved for the comparison. It became clear that the conceptual metaphor is a combination of linguistic and psychological factors. The analysis is based on the semantic structure of the metaphorical expressions, taking into account the referents that participated for their creation.
