PECULIARITIES OF SIMILE TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH (BASED ON THE NOVEL “THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY” BY OSCAR WILDE)

Abstract

The main strategies for simile translation from English in fictional prose are considered in the given article. The analysis results of simile translation into Ukrainian and Russian from English found in the novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by O. Wilde are presented. Finally, dominating translation strategies for each language combination are singled out.
