Interpretation is a specialized form of translation that facilitates communication between individuals who speak different languages and come from diverse cultural backgrounds, practice varying religions, and hold distinct perspectives on the subject matter. It is one of the most demanding types of translation work, as it necessitates not only proficiency in multiple languages but also the ability to quickly analyze information, withstand stress, and demonstrate a high level of cognitive flexibility. Consequently, effective interpreter training focuses on enhancing cognitive, linguistic, and communication skills. The analysis indicates that the mental effort required for simultaneous interpretation can be remarkably high, as interpreters must navigate a landscape filled with competing demands. This increased cognitive load may manifest in various ways, including fatigue, mental overload, and an elevated likelihood of errors and omissions. When interpreters operate at the limits of their cognitive capacity, their performance can deteriorate. This highlights the importance of effectively managing mental resources and fostering resilience during interpretation tasks to uphold high standards of accuracy and clarity. Thus, the high demand for competent interpreters who can work effectively in real time is what the modern globalized world demands. Interpreter training comprises several stages and employs various methods, exercises, and techniques designed to enhance working memory capacity. These include shadowing, engaging with authentic materials, relaying, interpreting from written texts, gap-filling exercises, simulations, and role-playing. Key skills, such as quick comprehension and lexical retrieval, as well as maintaining an attentive focus, are crucial. These elements collectively contribute to ensuring high-quality translation in diverse situations and foster aspiring professionals‘ cognitive, linguistic, and communication skills. We find it promising to explore the effectiveness of neural networks in interpreting and their implications for the interpreting profession.
