VIOLENCE AND CRUELTY IN MASS MEDIA (BASED ON UKRAINIAN AND BRITISH NEWSPAPERS)

Abstract

The article deals with the difference between violence and cruelty. It is focused on the verbal elements that shape mass media violence and cruelty, and violence and cruelty in mass media. Major subjects and objects of cruel and violent discourse were determined. The article also describes some speech strategies which characterize this type of discourse.
