PECULIARITIES OF ANTONOMY IN ENGLISH AND UKRAINIAN INVESTMENT TERMINOLOGY (BASED ON “DIRECT INVESTMENT”)

Abstract

Convergent and divergent features of the antonymic relations of the term “direct investment” in the Ukrainian language compared to English are defined. Some discrepancies in antonomy between investment terminology and other financial terminology (with the attribute “direct”) were revealed. It is proved that depending on the methodological approach in the economic research antonymic pair “direct investment” – “portfolio investment” could display the properties either of complementary or gradual antonyms.
