REPRODUCTION OF SYMBOLIC CONTEXT OF T.S. ELIOT “BURBANK WITH A BAEDEKER: BLEISTEIN WITH A SIGAR” IN TRANSLATION

Abstract

The article deals with the symbolic context of the poem by T.S. Eliot Burbank with a Baedeker: Bleistein with a Cigar” and its reproduction while translating into Ukrainian. Comparative analysis between the source text and the target texts is carried out on the basis of the poem and two variants of its translation by O.Grytsenko. The purpose of the article consists in establishing the peculiarities of reproducing symbols of the poem by the above mentioned translator.
