SOCIAL-COMMUNICATIVE ASPECTS OF STRUCTURAL-LINGUISTIC FEATURES OF ENGLISH NETWORK SLENG
Abstract
The article is devoted to the general tendencies and national-cultural features of Internet communication in English, caused by both internal language laws and extra-linguistic factors. It is shown that the adaptation of linguistic phenomena to network communication follows the principle of saving the speech and thought efforts of the participants of communication, with particular attention being paid to the social and cultural specificity manifested in the implementation of this principle.
The study of problems of intercultural communication involves acquaintance with the following phenomena and concepts: the principles of communication, the main functions of culture, the influence of culture on perception and communication in its various spheres and types, parameters for describing the impact of culture on human activity and the development of society in the context of learning professions. Nowadays, computer and information technologies, in particular the Internet, are developing very rapidly, covering all aspects of our lives. There’s growing number of Global Network users worldwide, actively obtaining (using) its information and communication resources. This article is devoted to the problems of intercultural competence formation on the Internet. It deals with a number of issues related to the formation of intercultural competence in the process of communication in social groups and chats, foreign language communication taking into account the cultural and mental differences of native speakers, which is a prerequisite for a successful dialogue of cultures. Thus, the Network is implementing the emancipation of the linguistic personality, who, in turn, is forced to adapt to the conditions of the new medium of communication, subject to format restrictions and other laws of "network genres".
Also, the peculiarity of network communication is the fact that the use of all participants of the same “arsenal of means” forms an international set of techniques, norms and strategies of communication. The response of certain segments of the Network to innovation in the field of information technology or other changes in the conditions of virtual communication varies depending on the socio-cultural specificity of the audience, the level of its information and technological competence, as well as the format of communication in one or another segment and their the principle of prioritizing “reaction speed“ over “retaining specificity” in the context of increasing the speed of change in information technology.
