Abstract

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to investigate the word-forming aspect of the common root synonymy of the modern Ukrainian legal text and to substantiate the specification of the abstract semantics of the suffix in relation to particular groups of derivative words. The dynamics of word formation of the modern Ukrainian legal text is reflected by the model of the modern Ukrainian vocabulary as a set of nests: root, root-word and word-forming.

Methods. The article uses the method of synchronous analysis, the basis of which is observation, allocation of linguistic units and their combination.

Results. The possibility of synonymization of word derivatives is substantiated, which is caused by word-forming peculiarities: type of word-forming meaning, performance / unproductive of model, functional load of suffix. It is emphasized that in modern linguistics the question of synonyms of the word-forming level is debatable. The isolation and preservation of meaning helps to limit the group of derivative adjectives to certain grammatical frames. A necessary condition for synonymy of common root words at the level of word-forming system is also the identity of the word-forming meaning. This possibility is realized only if the values of the synonymic relations formed in word-forming transpositions and modifications are identical. It is emphasized that the inter-categorical functioning of the semantics of the suffix provides for the formation of the primarily categorical, lexical and grammatical characteristics of the derived word. Therefore, the model of derivative variance of the adjectives of the morphologosyntactic method of creation at the – superstudies, at the beginning of XX century began to decline.

Conclusions. Synonymy of derivative words is the result of those derivative processes that were carried out at the stage of semantic variation of generic words and semantic-morphological variation within the vocabulary-derivative word. The emergence of common root synonyms is caused by the homogeneity and insufficient differentiation of the word-forming base in different word-forming types, as well as the opposite tendency for specialization of word-forming types and means, which leads to instability of the phenomenon of synonymy of single-root words.
